Truly Holistic Pregnancy and

Childbirth Series

A COMPREHENSIVE, HOLISTIC, AND INTEGRATIVE

CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASS

HDNYC’s Childbirth Education Course

for a holistic pregnancy and an empowered birth

TYPICALLY TAUGHT OVER 2 EVENINGS OR WEEKEND AFTERNOONS FOR A TOTAL OF 5 - 6 HOURS

$400 PER COUPLE

I created this unique series to cover all of the topics you would expect in a childbirth education course, in an unexpectedly fresh and engaging way. The course includes all you need to know to be well informed and empowered on your birth day, including the latest in evidence-based care. Holistic perspectives on health and healing are woven into the traditional curriculum to create a childbirth education class that is comprehensive, holistic, and integrative.

Concepts are conveyed through television and video clips, lectures that include insight and examples from my experience as a labor and delivery nurse and doula, and well chosen activities. The course format and materials are designed to make the subject matter easy to grasp, and memorable enough to recall.

Given that the course is taught as a private or to a small group it can be tailored to your needs in terms of content, time and dates.

Sample of Topics Covered

  1. Pregnancy and birth as natural life processes about which women have innate wisdom

  2. Choices in pregnancy and labor support and care

  3. Labor partner role

  4. Common pregnancy discomforts

  5. Optimizing health and wellbeing for labor and recovery

  6. Anatomy, physiology, progression, and variation in pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum

  7. Labor comfort measures and coping techniques

  8. Common hospital procedures including pain medication and cesarean delivery

  9. Newborn care: Common newborn procedures in the first hours of life

  10. Special topics: The course is customized to meet your needs. I’ve tailored the course to homebirthers using a birth pool, hospital birthers who may want the epidural, gay dads preparing for their baby via surrogate, and single mamas. I’m so happy to offer a safe, fun space where you can truly get all of your questions answered and be supported whatever your situation may be.

This Course Also Includes

  1. Recipes and food suggestions for late pregnancy, to maintain labor energy, and to promote post-delivery healing

  2. Practical handouts, for example: packing (for hospital)/preparing (for home) checklist, early labor log for your birth partner to keep cool when things start heating up, and more

MORE DETAILS
